Since there were also four Empresses, there were even “fake” eunuchs. Later on, they started doing yearly checks to make sure “everything” was still gone.





Some emperors were incredibly afraid that their concubines might kill them. So, one emperor had 27 identical beds placed in his bedroom, hoping that if an assassination attempt occurred, the time spent searching for the right bed would be long enough for the guards to intervene just in time.
